Congratulations on your recent purchase from Etsy! If you’re unsure how to download the digital file you’ve acquired, don’t worry. The process may seem a bit daunting initially, but once you’ve done it, it’ll be second nature.
Upon completing your purchase, Etsy will deliver a digital file to your account. In my shop, this is referred to as the “Instructions PDF.” Should your purchase include a Canva template, you’ll find the necessary links to access and edit your template embedded within this PDF.
Here’s how you can access your files:
Option 1: Via Email Notification
If you were logged into Etsy when you made your purchase, they will send a download notification to the email address associated with your Etsy account. This email will include a direct link to download the digital file(s) that came with your order.
Option 2: Directly from Etsy Account
If the notification email is nowhere to be found, you can still retrieve your digital file through your Etsy account by following these steps:
1. Log into Etsy.com using a mobile or web browser. Please note that the Etsy app currently does not support this feature, so you must use a browser to access your account.
2. Navigate to “YOUR ACCOUNT,” then to “PURCHASES AND REVIEWS.”
3. Find your order and click on “DOWNLOAD FILES.” This will take you to the Downloads page where you can access all the files associated with your order.
4. Once downloaded, open the “INSTRUCTIONS PDF” file.
5. Click on the preferred template size you wish to edit. A new browser window will display a preview of the template.
6. Click on “USE THIS TEMPLATE FOR NEW DESIGN.” By selecting this, a copy of the template will open in Canva, ready for you to start editing. Make sure you have a free Canva account set up to proceed.
Please keep in mind: If you made a purchase as a guest (not signed into an Etsy account), Etsy will send the download link to the email address you provided at checkout. Make sure to check your inbox for this link.
With these simple steps, you’ll be able to access and enjoy your digital purchase in no time.
